The great AI crash
The job market is going to implode.
Welcome to the great Job Market crash of 2024. Frustration. Desperation. Senior professionals who applied to thousand of jobs, only to be ghosted or get a few interviews. We know there is a lot of discontent and disconnect going on in the job market. I’m sure you have seen all the postings about people trying to get role for a year, submitted thousands of applications only to get a few interviews in total. This is an industry wide phenomenon, and we know what is causing it. It’s a job crash, and it will crash not just the job board market, but the economy. And the cause of this, is AI.
We want to give both employee and employer an easy, and transparent ride. And something that is affordable at the same time. We want to give you relevant news, alerts, and guidance, while at the same time not becoming another social media feed. We want to give you time back, so you can spend it on things that matter. Yes a job is important. A hire is important. But at the end of the day, a job or a hire is not usually everything. It is a means to an end. But it is something we need. But we want to be a responsible company, that uses AI responsibly. And that still celebrates humanity.
We are not another run of the mill job board. There are actual humans running this company. Sorcery, we know. Humans who have been in this industry quite a while. But we started this job board because no one else was giving us a job. So we gave ourselves one. Was this due to the market? Or over saturation ? Were we too old ? Overqualified? We don’t know. Actually we probably do. It was your average lousy human behaviour combined with AI powered ATS systems, which is a lethal combination. And because you never get feedback probably for legal reasons, you will never know.
We don’t want to blame ATS systems for it. Or AI. Because if use you AI well, it can be good. We do want to blame the general lack of transparency, ghosting, or excessive interviews, or labs for experienced candidates that make no sense. Or even take away homework. In other words, the human behaviour factor combined with a relentless need to optimise. Something one cannot change, but you can make it worse when combined with highly efficient and optimised tools, also known as AI. Yes you might not always get a job, but what is going on currently is more than that. We see a rise of bots on LinkedIn, we see AI creating video that might not be real. There is a AI storm going on that is not beneficial to anyone.
I mean everyone knew AI was going to be a disaster. Has no one seen the movies ? AI without human control gates is going to polarise the market. But we are not techno-luddites. We are in favour of AI, in favour of optimising processes and efficiency, but we are also in favour of not compromising what makes us so great. Every human is a bucket full of amazing traits, that all work together in unison to make you that great employee or employer. And when you optimise , you do exactly that. You loose traits that would make you yourself, and you get only that amazing trait that AI has optimised for.
We want to make a better ATS, and make better use of AI, to help both employer and employee in their quest for work and hiring. We want to kill AI before it kills itself. If we don’t introduce a constant stream of human input into the AI model, things will quickly go downhill. AI will start eating itself. It will start believing it’s own nonsense. It will be a loop of ginormous proportions that will not advance job boards, the economy, or humanity, but rather destroy it.
So we need to start thinking about how to use it in a way that benefits everyone, rather then just optimise things because it can. We don’t want to charge excessive prices for posting a few jobs. We want to promote honesty and transparency, and use technology to our advantage, rather than blame it for not getting hired. And we want to show companies that it’s important to focus more on the individual then on optimising your job hiring process and getting a skewed graph of how well you are performing.
We hope you will join this journey with us. And think about how we can use AI in a responsible way, that helps both employees and employers. Take a look the other options we have for employers in the Employer section. In addition to our job board, we provide Consulting, Executive Search, Training, Certification, Events and Marketing services. Reached out to our sales team today for more information.
